Migrating Forums from Snitz to CS07

I am running Snitz V3.4.03 and will be migrating to CS07 Express

Unfortunately my Snitz install has 19 forums and the limit for the CS07 Express is 15 so i will have to prune some. I've looked through the documentation for your migrator, and it doesn't appear to let me choose which forums i want to migrate, is this true ? If so i'll have to do my pruning in snitz prior to running it.

    Thanks

    Hi Tony,

We are very sorry for the very late reply. The forums are still not very active yet and we have not been monitoring them as closely as we should.

Regarding your question, you are correct, the Migrator does not currently allow selection of Forums to migrate.

However, you should know that the limit in the number of forums is a licensing limit, not a physical limit. You could migrate all of the forums and then through Community Server's Control Panel, move posts from one forum to another so that you don't lose any posts. You could then remove the empty forums to fall back to the licensing limits.

I don't remember if Snitz has the ability to move posts, it probably does, so that could also be done before migrating, that would be up to you.

I hope this answer helps, and again I'm terribly sorry for the late reply.

    Mike,

Thanks for your reply (even if it was late) ;)

I was aware that the limitation was a licensing, not a physical one, but I had no idea how it would behave when The Migrator attempted to create the new forum.

    I have since purchased a professional license for CS2007-8 so it's a non-issue now.

    Thanks
