    Ignore Users in Forum Addition

I am looking for a way in CS08 forums to add an option to ignore users.

    Scenario:

Find a user you deem as someone you care not to hear from. Click a button "Ignore User", and from that point on, any post by that user will not be displayed. This option is available in other forum applications, phpbb, etc. There are other users on the CS forums that have been asking for this functionality for two years with little to no response.

I'm willing to pay for the patch in order to get it.

Anyone else interested in this type of functionality?

You should post this in the CS.com forums...I don't think it relates to 4-roads products or services

I was speaking with a member of your team, Robert Nash about having 4 roads develop this solution. He said if I get enough support in your forum, your team may develop it. He asked me to post it here. Just doing as instructed by your people.

This topic is, and has been in the CS forums for a couple of years, and has been entirely ignored by the powers that be.

If you guys aren't interested, just lemme know.

    I don't work for 4-roads...just a user considering the commerce product;

I don't think what you are asking for is a bad idea (just thought you might get more of a response in the cs forums)...I would probably prefer that you can't receive emails or 'conversations' from users you blocked and wouldn't be to worried about the forum posts.

But as I said....I am not with 4-roads.

    Regards, Andre

Ah I see. The email address that is kicked off from the forum posts comes from a member of the 4 roads team... I assumed you were him :)

I agree with the convo idea as well. Would be a nice addition. I have users asking for the forum portion specifically... (The forum is generally what drives traffic to my site).

CS doesn't seem too interested in adding the functionality however. There are numerous requests for it there as well:

Not much of a response on it. PHPBB and some others offer this functionality, would be nice to have it here as well.

Thanks for the clarification, and regards.

Re: Ignore Users in Forum Addition

    Hi Nicholas,

Robert Nash did start an internal discussion about providing an Ignore User function that would let user A ignore posts by user B in the forums. We actually implemented that for another customer but it was specific to their situation and not re-usable. It is possible for us to do that.

I didn't know that you were asked to post her. And I'm not sure of the timing between your being told that and our starting an internal discussion about it. Will find out more from Rob.
